Implementing Financial Instruments (FI) in ESIF bares lots of opportunities – but also challenges. Member states all over Europe use FI to finance revenue-generating projects in their respective countries in order to foster economic and social development. When implementing this relatively new instrument Managing Authorities, implementing bodies, national banks and other relevant actors in FI face new challenges such as the ex-ante assessment.
